Re: Vee belts alternative parts for pre 85 LC engine.

Alternator - Gates 6263MC PAS / Water Pump - Gates 6264MC Thanks Stu, those are the belts for the later engine, low and high compression which I have spares of. The water pump belt changed for 85MY on and the water pump belt changed for MY 86 on. I’m looking for the belts for the pre 85 engine. The...

Re: Right hand capping and the dummy fuel cap

This is what the factory dummy cap looks like. It has a Lotus badge in the centre with a screw beneath. https://db3pap004files.storage.live.com/y4mwACHk2KQ3m3A3sziNzkifp3Ub3WOFfU-P7G3ibTQNh_qsWxPQcG8QZhTOfX2pb5mK1Vj3UwFulgJVn0v6p8B0feeCu2FyDYCWgmny_E40DcD1UsXyWAy4UHnVtQyVlHtvyNrG8kg9bcV0hUdHwXJLmiZ-...

Re: Restoration show 2023

Hi Pete, sorry to hear your news, hope everything goes well with the treatment and you’re back to full Lotusing soon.

I think it’s time to get my PSA checked. Had a scare a few years ago with a high result and not had done since due to Covid stopping things.

Vee belts alternative parts for pre 85 LC engine.

Does anyone know any alternative part numbers, Gates etc, for a pre 85MY low compression, non A/C car. From the parts catalogue they are different to those used on the 86MY on.

Alternator belt is A907E6315F

Water pump is A912E6587F

Thanks

Re: Driver door exterior door handle loose and edge light missing

Loose door handles are a common problem. It is a poor Toyota design. The plastic around the captive lug breaks. Some have repaired them, but there are new modified 3D printed ones now available. Just do a forum search for Door Handle and you’ll get all the info. As to the door lights, these were sta...

Re: Cam lock tool

I second the paint mark method. I believe I read about it on here somewhere before I did my first belt change last spring. A few seconds with a paint pen to mark the belts position on each pulley, then transfer the marks to the new belt. Made the install so much easier, with no worries about anythi...

Re: Identifying a window connector?

This is the 6 pin version. My 87 and 85 had the 5 pin which doesn’t have the single pin at 90 degrees to the others https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TORRIX-classic-car-switch-Peugeot-CITROEN-FIAT-ALFA-auto-up-and-down-/143866544697?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Does...

Re: Identifying a window connector?

The switches are Torrix and also used on Citroen, Peugeot, Fiat and Alfa of the period. There were 2 versions with initially 5 and later 6 contacts.

Re: Windscreen replacement

When I took my windscreen out the A post covers were bonded to the glass with silicone type material. I checked at the time and this is correct as per the service notes. So what you have found is correct and how they left the factory. I used a long thin flexible bladed kitchen knife to cut through t...

Anyone tried 14” Yokohama tyres

Yokohama Advan HF Type-D A008S - 205/60 R14 88H TL Just wondered if anyone has experience with these tyres. Supposed to be a modern recreation of a 1980’s tyre popular for track use back in the day. Only H rated, but at least that’s still good for 130mph. https://www.yokohama.eu/en/tyres/pcr-tyres/c...

Wishing you all the best. The good thing is, now the problem is known it can be managed and your health will hopefully improve so playing with a Lotus (rather than weaving baskets) will be good therapy

Re: Exhaust Cam Timing

Has anyone tried laser cleaning yet...no debris afterwards and the rubbish gets vaporised. Bash I saw that on one of the car resto shows, either Mike Brewer or Tim Shaw doing it. Looked quite impressive. Another option is soda blast which is water soluble so can be cleaned easily with a simple wash...
