Re: Senna’s Excel

Found this online, seems Senna had an excel when he was at McLaren. However it does not seem to have had a long life, having lasted less than year, although on reflection it may have been exported as it appears to be LHD http://ayrtonsennavive.blogspot.com/2015/11/ayrton-senna-testando-o-lotus-exce...

Anyone know this Elite?

Tempted by this Elite on Ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115052502207 ... SwppVg4wac

Does anyone know it? It's near Gloucester so I wouldn't be able to view it until Monday at the soonest.

Re: Last production Elite

Got to £1,850 without meeting the reserve. However, the owner says in the advert that the car will remain on sale until he starts work on it himself and gave his contact details (David on 07458395770 davidrow17@hotmail.com) in case someone wanted to contact him after the sale. If I had the workshop ...

Re: Excel wanted - newbie questions

I received Nigel's reply so it looks like the message sits in the outbox for a while before going to the recipient's inbox. At least it gives you a chance to change or delete it if you had second thoughts. Every cloud and all that.

Re: Excel wanted - newbie questions

Thanks Tony. The car will be spending most of its time outside, so I guess that's another point to the Excel. The running costs, I would imagine, would be similar. I had assumed the window frame rot would be in the visible part of the quarter light, so thanks for this info. It might be best to assu...

Re: Re-Profiled Cams

I would expect a fan that shifted a decent amount of air to draw significant power and, with 12V, need a big current. I think commercial applications use 48V. If you are pressurising the air, it will heat it up. Wouldn't it be better to take the engine to 2.5l?

Re: Significant Club donation

That's extremely kind of whomever it is and puts a responsibility on the shoulders of the members to use this once-in-a-lifetime donation wisely. Could some of it be used to finance the production of something that could be sold for a profit to provide an income to the club?

Re: 1987 Lotus Excel project :D

It is, Peter. 4 screws to remove the tunnel-mounted cubby. If my memory serves me correctly, it's then 2 screws to release the back of the tunnel trim and you can then pull the tunnel top trim back to disengage it at the front and lift the rear high enough to see the switch. Unscrew the gearknob and...
