Guys
Now that we have parted company with the Excel, there are one or two bits left to clear.
We have one new seat base diaphragm to fit either front seat. As you know these split with age and are now difficult to find.

Thanks Richard. Problem solved-the switch is OK-turned out to be a relay issue.

Re: Rear fog lamp relay location?
After a bit of detective work, I have discovered that the early cars didn't have a rear fog relay, but the wiring runs through the front fog relay.
Checked and it had come loose in its holder. Removed, cleaned contacts and replaced-all now working.

Rear fog lamp relay location?
Guys
I have no rear fog lamps (The day before MOT-typical!)
Where is the relay located? I have the factory manual which includes it in the wiring diagram but not in the component location diagram!
(1984/5 car)
Many thanks.

That is identical to our car, other than we have the optional 15" speedline wheels.

Re: Ctek charger
We have a discarnect- the type with the fuse to keep the clock and radio settings. Because we kept forgetting and blowing the fuse, we replaced it with a resettable fuse. Much easier! Charger wise, we give both of our classics a regular conditioning with Lidl trickle chargers-they work in exactly th...

Assuming you want to retain the air of mystery, and not tell us what it's off, how about posting a pic of the rear so that we can assess the connection points and maybe offer solutions?

Re: Diff filler plug removal
If it's the driveshaft seals leaking, try cleaning or replacing the breather on top. Changed ours because of driveshaft leaks and they stopped.
Knew it was the right thing to do - when I removed it, I got a hiss of pressure being released !

The original trim supplier in Norfolk is very helpful (Sorry, I can't remember the name!) He sold me a new old stock one last year.

I'm going to leap in here and say that although SJ have not been perfect in their parts supply to me, they are CONSIDERABLY better than a certain .....bits whom I have also used.

Re: Fuel pump crush washer
My bet is that this is a standard copper washer rather than a crush washer. If so, and it is not badly damaged, you can re-anneal it for further use. Heat it to cherry red with a blowtorch and then quench in cold water. This restores it's original properties and it will act like new.

Re: Throttle cable solution
I suspect not- too small to fit through the linkage. The one I used is a perfect fit and cannot fall out.Lotus-e-Clan wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 16:38Might get away with a Sturmey Archer pinch bolt too for less than £4.
