Re: Help with Barn find in Sussex near Brighton/Worthing

Wow! That looks like my car but in better condition in body and interior. It's even the same colour inside and out. Mine is a 1978 and waiting inspiration to start restoring it. My advantage is that it has a galvanised chassis, rebuilt engine & gearbox and all new brakes and suspension. Hopefully I'...

Re: Help with Barn find in Sussex near Brighton/Worthing

1974 is a very early Elite and a very worthwhile project. The chassis won't be galvanised like the series 2.2 so that would be worthy of investigation. They tend to rust out at the back where it attaches to the body. This of course is really hard to see for inspection. If it's low mileage and spent ...

Re: are prices on the up?......(see this on ebay)

Where to start with this one. It appears to be a running useable car but it's not particularly original and the interior really lets it down. The 'original' sunroof is anything but. It's advertised as a 501 but the ad then mentions power steering. The rear wiper mechanism appears to have been delete...

I think Plasti Dip is the UK equivalent. It's spray on, peel off, paint. :)

The S2.2 Elite belongs to a long time Lotus owner who frequents The Lotus Forums. Lots of history for the car on there. :)

Re: S J Sportscars Ltd

Steve is a character who polarises opinion. I have to say that I've never had a problem with returning stuff and in one instance a replacement arrived before I had even returned an item. I've also had good free advice from him in the past. I guess there will always be things that don't go well and i...

Re: Peter James Insurance price hike

There is a new ruling coming into force which effectively prevents insurers offering special deals to new customers which aren't available to existing people. This means that generally renewal prices will go up as there is little point in shopping around for a better deal. Only time will tell if it ...

Steve and his son at SJ Sportscars will normally not send anything out until everything is in stock. The website doesn't show stock levels and often you can place an order for stuff they don't have. I imagine that as you chased him, he sent what he had.

It's highly likely that all the bushes are the same age so I would just replace all of them, you'll have peace of mind knowing you don't need to worry again. :)
